It’s the First Day of Spring And…

first day of Spring

The Spring Equinox is here! This means it’s the first day of Spring! Are you ready for the plants to bloom, sunny skies, and warmer weather?

The first day of Spring is known for the start of these expected weather changes and impact on the overall environment. Plants bloom, animals come out of hibernation, and there’s more daylight… While these are typical conditions of the Spring season, what the Spring Equinox actually represents is a change in the direction of the Sun on Earth’s axis. Throughout the year, the Earth not only rotates daily, but it also orbits the sun yearly, which causes the changes in the seasons. For the Northern Hemisphere, this means warmer temperatures as the Spring Equinox arrives. As the sunlight essentially tilts more closely to these areas, warmer temperatures begin to arrive, which then leads to all the other changes in the environment.

The first day of Spring isn’t the only thing to celebrate. Some of the other holidays for March 20 include World Frog Day, World Sparrow Day, World Storytelling Day, and Proposal Day.
