Characteristics of Princess Characters

Princesses are often the lead character, also called a protagonist, in a fairy tale. Some fairy tale stories focus on unique creatures, pirates, or fairies, but many focus on princesses and their adventures. Some books and movies follow the princess along the journey to becoming royalty; others follow the adventures of the young princesses as they discover new things.

Most of the princesses in these stories are adventurous, outgoing, daring, talented, eager, intelligent, and/or artistic – or a combination of a few. They are typically wearing royal attire, such as a long dress, jewelry, white gloves, and sometimes a crown or tiara.
